There's a new movement going on. It begins with the misperception that everyone is a photographer. Sure, the use of mobile devices has given everyone the ability to capture the world, and it can't be denied as a landscape changer. However, the ubiquity has only served to highlight the difference between those who take photographs and those who make art. The cliché from the craft. Today, a new breed of photographers emerge. Less concerned about commercial gain than ever before. People who are pushing the medium not through new technology, which we all have, but through hard work and dedication and artistry - which so few have. They've embraced technology, which makes them different from the old guard of private realm, studio-driven elitists. Instead, these new photographers are all about sharing, all about exploring and collaborating and, well, just working at it. I like this new breed. Much better than the old breed. My hope is to bring a few of them to light here. In honor of The New Photographers.
