I can’t focus
I shot straight on, it was okay. Mostly I was frustrated that I couldn’t get the detail I wanted. It was inside, the light was low and my focusing at wide open sucks. Especially in low light because my eyesight is going. I was chasing the light around the room to see where the spot was. I ended up here more out of instinct than rationale. I shot some of her pregnant belly that were coming out gorgeous, got those and decided to switch to black and white. Then it changed.
Suddenly, I saw what was happening down in the bottom right corner and liked how it contributed to the story. Told her to grab the sheets and cover herself up. We joked around. Now that it was in black and white, I lightened things up and stopped caring too much about the thin depth of field. It was more mood than anything. These are almost all not in the right focus. That wood grain looks great, though. Whatever, that last shot is the one I wanted and I’m pretty happy with that. The Noctilux handled that sun flare like a champ, I worked with it and moved it around her. You don’t even notice it at first, but there’s all this movement. Left to right angles, big bunches of soft things everywhere, then these big intersecting curves. That’s how it is when you’re pregnant - so much swirlingness.
And she just stays calm and focused. Don’t know how she does it.
